The Environmental Contractors Association (ECA) welcomed a special seminar presentation by the New York City Department of Buildings titled, "Getting it Done at DOB: From Application Filing to Sign-Off" on Tuesday, February 28 at the Midtown Executive Club. The seminar began with an introductory address by Chris Santulli, PE and assistant commissioner for engineering and safety operations at the NYC DOB. The seminar presentation and panel discussion featured the perspectives of Santulli and other officers at the NYC DOB, including Bharat Gami, RA, chief plan examiner and A-TRU, and Marshall Kraminer, PE, borough commissioner for Staten Island and A-TRU. The panelists were joined by Steve Camaiore, PE and director of the Asbestos Control Program at the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The seminar provided an engaging and informative discussion of the intricacies of the Department of Buildings (DOB), with valuable insight into understanding DOB processes from application filing to sign off. Specific topics addressed included environmental and asbestos requirements and the ways they interface with the DOB's processes, as well as an explanation of Building Information Systems (BIS) navigation and search capabilities.
