Thornton Tomasetti recognized as a LEED Proven Provider by GBCI

November 24, 2014 - Green Buildings
Thornton Tomasetti has been recognized as a LEED Proven Provider for the Building Design and Construction rating system family by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).
The GBCI bestows certifications and professional designations within the framework of the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED Green Building Rating Systems. The Proven Provider certification program was created to streamline the LEED project review process for experienced organizations that demonstrate consistent excellence in administering LEED projects.
Thornton Tomasetti is among a select group of only 35 organizations worldwide in the Proven Provider certification program. Organizations with LEED project administration experience (a minimum of six certified projects in a single rating system family) are eligible to apply. The Thornton Tomasetti Proven Provider designation was attained following an in-depth audit by the GBCI of the firm's LEED submittals. LEED Proven Provider is designed to encourage and reward high-quality LEED project submissions to minimize the need for additional work during the project review process.
Organizations that demonstrate and maintain high-quality project submissions through LEED Proven Provider receive significant benefits, such as greater access to a LEED reviewer and recognition from USGBC for their sustained track record of high-quality project submissions.
It also creates an opportunity for Thornton Tomasetti and LEED reviewers to work together to enhance the LEED certification experience and facilitate direct engagement with, and support for, project teams.
Thornton Tomasetti has successfully helped many facilities achieve LEED certification over the last several years, including:
* The Davis Science Center at Colby College in Waterville, Maine (LEED Gold).
* 680 Folsom St. and 50 Hawthorne St. in San Francisco (LEED Platinum).
* San Francisco Department of the Environment headquarters at 1455 Market St. (LEED Platinum).
* The Pearl Place II apartment complex in Portland, Maine (LEED Platinum).
Thornton Tomasetti's Philadelphia and Chicago offices have achieved LEED Gold certification. The firm strives to LEED certify all its new offices larger than 4,000 s/f and has acted as in-house LEED consultant for its office projects.
