The Shop Workspace opens a 3,000 s/f location at 420 Carroll in Gowanus

Brooklyn, NY The Shop Workspace opened its new location within 420 Carroll, a mixed-use development in the Gowanus neighborhood. With FXCollaborative as the architect and Alan Mainer Studios as the interior designer, The Shop is a design-forward coworking space tailored for freelancers, creative professionals, and growing businesses rooted in the evolving Gowanus community. Comprising 3,000 s/f of the building’s second floor, The Shop at 420 Carroll will be the brand’s third location, with others in Salt Lake City and New Orleans. Upon opening, The Shop Workspace at 420 Carroll is nearly 50% leased. The Shop will soon open a new location in Greenpoint and plans to expand throughout the city.

“Designed to foster collaboration and growth for professionals across various industries, The Shop is not just about work but also community engagement, with events, partnerships with local nonprofits, and initiatives that enhance members’ daily lives,” said Anne Olsen, director of Coworking at The Shop Workspace. “Opening The Shop at 420 Carroll means we will be able to bring this rich, community-centered work environment to the heart of the Gowanus neighborhood. We are excited to welcome our members to The Shop’s new home in Brooklyn and continue growing our footprint in New York City.”

The Shop provides a comprehensive and supportive environment for its members, offering utilities, pet-friendly offices and storage space, shared common areas, meeting spaces, cutting-edge technology, phone booths, a staffed reception area, mail and business services, an office kitchen, company branding opportunities in offices, and more.

Members of The Shop BK unlock access to over a hundred coworking spaces across the globe through the League of Extraordinary Coworking Spaces (LeXC) and access to the Salt Lake City and New Orleans locations and any future locations of The Shop.

Made possible by the Gowanus Mix zoning, The Shop is partnering with Arts Gowanus to offer subsidized space for local artists in addition to its commercial and reduced-cost Gowanus Mix community offerings. Seven Arts Gowanus studios have recently been awarded to local artists in a lottery system managed by Arts Gowanus, and six Gowanus Mix studios will be available at a reduced cost for local businesses. The studios through the Arts Gowanus and Gowanus Mix involve renewable year-long commitments. There are a limited number of additional studios available for leasing.

The Shop at 420 Carroll is located blocks away from the R, F, and G trains,, ensuring access to the city. It is also surrounded by several high-demand neighborhoods including Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, Park Slope, and downtown.
