Brooklyn, NY According to The Domain Companies, Majestic, a new 10-story residential building located at 540 Degraw St. in Gowanus, has topped out. Majestic includes 255 apartments ranging from studios to three bedrooms with high-end, condo-style features. The building offers amenities and seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living through its landscaped roof terrace, indoor–outdoor rooftop fitness center, and courtyard garden. With construction wrapping up, Majestic is expected to open in 2027.

Majestic is being developed by Domain Companies with design by Handel Architects. The building’s interiors are by GoodRich Design and landscape architecture is by Future Green Studio.

“Majestic’s topping out marks another significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to Gowanus, where we now have over 600 residences across two properties,” said Matt Schwartz, co-CEO at Domain Companies. “We’re proud to bring high quality housing, thoughtful design and meaningful community benefits to a neighborhood undergoing an extraordinary transformation. As Majestic nears completion, we look forward to seeing it become another anchor that strengthens the vitality of Gowanus.”

Majestic transforms a formerly underutilized site into state-of-the-art residences, with frontage on three streets in Gowanus – Degraw, Sackett and Nevins – and two separate entrances. The double-height attended lobby features a glass canopy with a red brick façade on the building’s exterior. Residents will have access to a wide range of amenities, including a lounge, coworking space, private dining room, game room, golf simulator, pet spa and kids playroom. Majestic features an expansive landscaped terrace with chaise seating, barbecue grills and dining areas, along with a serene interior courtyard garden. The building will also offer package lockers, bike storage and a 45-space parking garage. Twenty-five percent of Majestic’s apartments are set aside as affordable housing.

The blocks surrounding Majestic will feature newly planted tree-lined sidewalks and on the ground floor, there will be nearly 14,000 s/f of retail and office space. The building offers convenient subway access via the R station at the corner of Union Street and 4th Avenue. Majestic is targeting LEED Gold certification.

Majestic builds on the success of Domain’s work at 420 Carroll, the first residential building to open in the neighborhood following the 2021 rezoning. With new retail, public open space, hospitality offerings and creative programming, 420 Carroll has become a key destination along the rapidly evolving Gowanus waterfront.
