The Agency hosts 3rd Annual Community Breakfast; outlined new projects and initiatives for the year ahead

Johnson City, NY The Agency Broome County IDA/LDC hosted the 3rd Annual Community Breakfast recently at Traditions at the Glen Resort & Conference Center, 4101 Watson Blvd.

The Agency hosts this event to provide a review of economic development projects over the last year and to outline new projects or initiatives for the year ahead.

Some of the signature projects from 2015 included:

• Skye View Heights in the Village of Endicott, featuring 52 townhouse style homes for individuals age 55 and over;

• Link Park in Kirkwood, featuring the redevelopment of the Singer Link building by Modern Marketing Concepts, Inc. and the creation of 600 jobs; and

• The Print House in Binghamton, featuring the redevelopment of 19-25 Chenango St., including the historic Press building, into housing for students and young professionals.

The Agency also highlighted efforts to assist with small business expansions through its revolving loan programs including companies such as Engineering Manufacturing Technologies, MS Machining, and Roberts Stone.

Kevin McLaughlin, executive director for The Agency also revealed details for the construction of a “one-stop” business and economic development center in Dickinson.

This includes the construction of an 17,000 s/f building on the south entrance of the SUNY Broome Community College Campus.

The new building will be headquarters for The Agency and will house other business and lending organizations including:

• Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology;

Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce;

• National Development Council;

• New York Business Development Corp.;

• The Center: built for small business growth (The Agency’s startup incubator);

• Southern Tier Startup Alliance (Binghamton-area office); and

• Visions Federal Credit Union (additional office).

Funding for this project was secured through a grant by former NYS senator Tom Libous through the NYS Economic Development Assistance Program.

Construction is expected to begin this summer.
