Plano, TX Southern Land Company (SLC), a national real estate developer of award-winning master-planned, single-family, multifamily, and mixed-use communities, has welcomed Lisa McDonnell as senior vice president, head of multifamily property management.
In this role, McDonnell leverages her operational background and commitment to excellence to lead SLC’s property management teams in delivering exceptional service and creating outstanding resident experiences across the company’s expanding portfolio of luxury multifamily and mixed-use communities.
“Lisa understands that property management is really about people–both the residents we serve and the teams we build,” said Yetta Tropper, SLC’s president, Multifamily. “She is the right leader to elevate our offerings and strengthen our position as a hospitality-first property management company.”
McDonnell oversees property management strategy and operations for nearly 2,200 residences across SLC’s collection of active communities. An additional 2,700 residences are in various phases of development and construction. Drawing on 20 years of combined experience in property management and hospitality, McDonnell focuses on building and leading high-performing teams, establishing consistent operational standards across the portfolio, and driving a culture of excellence that elevates the resident experience at every touchpoint.
McDonnell’s experience includes roles with global hospitality and commercial real estate companies. She began her career in hospitality with Marriott and IHG, where she developed a passion for service, people, and the details that create memorable experiences. In 2008, she transitioned into multifamily as a leasing professional and has since served in nearly every multifamily operations role, including a variety of leadership roles. She comes to SLC from Cushman & Wakefield where she spent the last 10 years, most recently serving as executive managing director, leading operations, client care, and development for a 40,000-unit region across several major markets. McDonnell also spent several years working for two Texas-based developers, Westwood Residential Companies and JLB Partners. Collectively, she has amassed a wealth of experience in hospitality and new construction, luxury multifamily property management.
“Best-in-class property management is fundamental to the long-term success of our communities,” said Tim Downey, SLC founder and CEO. “Our level of service must be resident-focused and of the highest caliber; it has to align with the level of intention and detail we put into the places we design and build. Lisa has the perfect mix of experience and roster of achievements to deliver this now and as we continue to grow.”
Inspired by Downey’s vision for extraordinary placemaking, McDonnell’s decision to join SLC reflects her desire to deliver incomparable service and experiences to those who encounter an SLC community.
“Tim’s vision deeply resonates with me,” said McDonnell. “A true luxury living experience encapsulates both the tangible and intangible. I am excited to heighten our focus on the latter. We have an incredibly strong baseline, and through collaboration with our in-house teams, we will take property management to the next level at each SLC community.”
McDonnell is based in SLC’s Plano, TX office.
