Brooklyn, NY Slate Property Group (Slate) and Adam America Real Estate (AARE) have topped out 51 Jay St., one of the city’s most anticipated warehouse conversions in the DUMBO neighborhood. A former industrial steel and glass factory, Eran Chen of ODA Architecture has transformed the historical landmark into 74 lofted homes. “The topping out of 51 Jay St. not only marks a significant time for our construction, development and design teams,  it highlights DUMBO’s evolving residential, commercial and retail landscape,” said Martin Nussbaum, principal and co-founder of Slate. “With the upcoming openings of Empire Stores, 51 Jay St., Brooklyn Bridge Marina, and more, we continue to see an increased demand from not only those in Brooklyn, but also those from Manhattan neighborhoods like Tribeca and the Upper West Side.” Paying tribute to the industrial character of the building, Slate and AARE worked with ODA to create an entrance that features a steel and glass canopy with polished black frames dividing enlarged, warehouse-style windows on its facade. In the lobby, steel tracks set into polished concrete flooring celebrate the hard working trolley-tracks of the industrial era. “DUMBO has earned the distinction of being a 24/7 neighborhood and 51 Jay St. allows residents to live in one of the premier live, work and play destinations in New York City. To that end, as more people make Brooklyn their first choice, 51 Jay St. has received strong interest from Manhattan and Brooklyn residents,” said Dvir Cohen Hoshen, principal and co-founder of Adam America Real Estate. “We achieved one of the highest price per-square-feet for the neighborhood at $2,083, and we’re nearly 75% sold with our launch taking place earlier this year.” Further enhancing the lifestyle at 51 Jay St, residents will have access to a full-suite of amenities. In addition to an around-the-clock concierge service, amenities include a fitness and yoga center, storage, children’s playroom, lounge, pet grooming station and a large capacity laundry room. Residents can also entertain on 51 Jay’s rooftop terrace which includes an outdoor kitchen and fireplace. 51 Jay St. is located in the heart of Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood with eased access to F, A, C, 2 and 3 lines as well as the historic Brooklyn Bridge and East River Ferry. In addition, the neighborhood has a thriving dining, art and cultural scene with Kunsthalle Galapagos, Atrium Dumbo, Powerhouse Arena, One Girl Cookies Bakery and Juliana’s Pizza calling it home, among others.
