SL Green Realty named 2015 Energy Star Partner of the Year

SL Green Realty Corp. has been recognized by The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a 2015 Energy Star Partner of the Year for its efforts to strategically manage and improve energy efficiency across its entire Manhattan and Suburban NYC portfolios. "SL Green is very pleased to receive this recognition from the US EPA. Achieving Partner of the Year is a testament to the ongoing development and achievements of our sustainability program," said Jay Black, director of sustainability for SL Green. "Through the continued dedication and support of our executive management team, SL Green is enhancing profitability through energy efficiencies, while utilizing the EPA's Energy Star program as a key tool to manage and track our ongoing success."
The 2015 Partner of the Year Award is given to organizations for their contributions toward superior energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners are selected from the 16,000 partners that participate in the Energy Star program and recognized in Washington, D.C., on April 20th.
With a focus on performance measurement and entire-building improvement, SL Green has combined its real-time energy management system with the EPA's Energy Star program to provide a proven energy management strategy to monitor and track important reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. From 2010 through 2014, SL Green has invested more than $35 million toward energy efficiency projects, which have resulted in significant savings of more than $10 million per year. SL Green properties that received an Energy Star Label have increased from 1 million s/f to 10.4 million s/f over five years.
