Schneider of JLL proud of Empire State Bldg. Sustainability Exhibit

Name: Dana Robbins Schneider Title: Senior Vice President Company Name: JLL Years in Commercial Real Estate: 15 In the last 12 months, which project, transaction, honor or accomplishment are you most proud of and why? I am most proud of the Empire State Building Sustainability Exhibit we updated and unveiled this year. This exhibit highlights the groundbreaking energy efficiency model we have developed and implemented at the Empire State Building and educates all visitors to the building about what we accomplished and how they can replicate this model in their own lives. The impact of replicating this model globally is staggering. We have a deep impact in energy use reduction with a quantifiable payback. The business case is clear. What were your biggest fears when you started out in your profession? My biggest fear was choosing a profession where I could make a difference in the world, to move the needle in environmental sustainability. I am very grateful for the experience and education I received at the University of Virginia. It prepared and inspired me to chase after a profession that was and is still meaningful. Who are three women- living or dead - that you would like to have drinks with and why? Marie Curie: I am fascinated by the incredible scientific creativity and brilliance she demonstrated and how she never hesitated to drive towards her goal, eventually sacrificing her life for her discoveries, which have changed our world. She was a two-time Nobel Laureate - the first woman who won a Nobel Prize. She showed women and girls all around the world that women could have a successful career in science. Eleanor Roosevelt: Eleanor Roosevelt is one of the most interesting women in modern history. She was irreverent, independent, outspoken, intelligent and determined. Her impact on the United States and the world is immeasurable. She was the driving force behind one of our nation's strongest and most influential leaders, and she was a leader and advocate on her own. She was a staunch supporter of women's and human rights, and served as the U.S. Delegate to the UN General Assembly and as Chairman of the UN Commission on Human Rights. I think it would be incredible to know such a strong, respected and determined woman. Hillary Clinton: Hillary Clinton is one of the most successful women of our time. She has changed the game for professional women by demonstrating that intelligence, strength and leadership are measured by merit and should not be determined by being a man or woman. She has maintained her family despite many challenges, and I would love to learn about her decision-making process and self-motivation. What is your favorite quote? I love quotes, but my favorites happen to be from Eleanor Roosevelt: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
