Schimenti Construction selected to build new 1,330 s/f Starbucks store

Schimenti Construction has been selected to build the new Starbucks store at 122 Greenwich Ave. and 8th St.
The new store is located in historic Greenwich Village in an eco-friendly condominium project.
Starbucks began its journey as a roaster and retailer of high-quality coffees in 1971 in a small retail space in Seattle's Pike Place Market. As they celebrate 40 years of serving the world's highest quality coffee Starbucks will roll out its new in-store look focusing on the iconic Siren logo.
Joe McGowan, Schimenti project manager on this new 1,330 s/f store, said, "Construction is underway and we expect to have the store ready for customers by early June." The store will incorporate the new interior look and also be a LEED Certified Project keeping in line with Starbucks commitment to the environment.
With more than 17,000 retail locations around the world, Starbucks is intently focused on green building initiatives to help reach their environmental targets, the flexibility to support the scale and the efficiency needed to reduce long-term operating costs. They have made significant progress in their efforts, and starting in January 2011, they expect to reach their goal that all new, company-owned stores will be built to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Schimenti has worked with Starbucks for the past two years and has built five locations for the company throughout the New York metro area. The most recent project was the remodel of the Starbucks store in Rockefeller Center.

Schimenti Construction, headquartered in Ridgefield with offices in New York City, has built a strong reputation in the retail construction industry and has developed a solid niche in urban construction. The firm builds retail-shopping environments for some of the nations leading retailers including Hollister, TJ Maxx, Kohl's, Best Buy, Fossil, Barnes & Noble, Target, T-Mobile, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
