Yonkers, NY Sarah Lawrence College’s $35 million Barbara Walters Campus Center took a major step forward with a topping off ceremony on campus.

On September 27th, the Sarah Lawrence community gathered to celebrate as the final piece of structural steel was placed atop the Campus Center. President Cristle Collins Judd invited the senior class to sign the beam, making the class of 2019 forever part of The Barbara Walters Campus Center.

The Campus Center is named in honor of esteemed alumna Barbara Walters, who donated the lead gift of $15 million for the construction of the donor-funded building. The Center will include the Barbara Walters Archives and Reading Room.

The environmentally-friendly 34,800 s/f center, designed by KSS Architects, will serve as a gathering place for students, faculty, and staff with lounges, dining and event facilities. The space will also enable the college to offer more opportunities to welcome members of the local community to campus. The center is expected to open in the fall of 2019.

Founded in 1926, Sarah Lawrence College is a coeducational liberal arts college.
