Rodriguez of Savitt Partners secures 4,000 s/f for Museum of Mathematics

In a transaction arranged by Hector Rodriguez of Savitt Partners, the Museum of Mathematics has signed a long-term, 4,000 s/f office lease at 134 West 26th St., the Chelsea Arts Building. Inspiring math exploration and discovery, the museum will house its administrative offices within the 100,000 s/f, 12-story loft property owned by President Realty LLC. The asking rent was $36 per s/f. "After an exhaustive search for office space in the Chelsea submarket, we were able to ascertain that 134 West 26th Street met all of the Museum's real estate requirements," said Rodriguez. "In addition to the ownership's willingness to build the loft-style office space to the museum's specifications, its convenient location in the heart of Chelsea's art district was also a key factor in the decision." The non-profit organization is more than doubling its office occupancy from the 1,400 s/f of useable office space it currently occupies at 134 West 29th St. The Museum of Mathematics required the additional space to house its expanding operations and growing number of employees. Cindy Lawrence, associate director of the Museum of Mathematics said, "We had completely outgrown our existing offices, and as we gear up for the grand opening of a spectacular new museum space, it was the ideal time to relocate to larger offices." In addition to the office space at 134 West 26th St., the Museum of Mathematics will be opening its official New York City visitor center on December 12 at 11 East 26th St. The Museum strives to enhance public understanding and perception of mathematics. Its dynamic exhibits and programs will stimulate inquiry, spark curiosity, and reveal the wonders of mathematics. The Museum's activities will lead a broad and diverse audience to understand the evolving, creative, human and aesthetic nature of mathematics.
