Rockland County Legislature confirms reappointments to IDA

On April 25th, the Rockland County Legislature's Economic Development committee, chaired by legislator Michael Grant, passed a motion to approve the reappointment of Catherine Nowicki and Timothy Riley, respectively, to the board of the Rockland County IDA. The reappointments were submitted to the legislature for consideration by Rockland County executive, Scott Vanderhoef, for their dedication and continued service to the IDA. Nowicki, the economic development specialist for the Town of Clarkstown, was appointed to the Board in 2008, and Riley, a project executive with Pearl River-based Mehl Electric Co., Inc., was appointed in 2002. Riley also serves as the IDA treasurer. Eric Dranoff, IDA chairman said, "I'm pleased that the Legislature confirmed the reappointment of Catherine and Tim. The experience and knowledge they both bring from the public and private sectors are invaluable assets to our agency." IDA board members, who serve as volunteers, include: Eric Dranoff, Esq., chair; Howard Hellman, secretary; Riley, treasurer; and Nowicki. The IDA does not receive any public funding and operates solely from the fees it generates. The Rockland IDA provides financial incentives to retain, expand and attract business in Rockland County. Incentives include state and local sales tax exemption, mortgage recording tax exemption, tax exempt bond financing and a real property tax abatement program.
