RKTB Architects promotes Spiotta to associate

Giuseppe Spiotta

Manhattan, NY RKTB Architects has elevated architect Giuseppe Spiotta, AIA, to the role of associate.

The promotion of Spiotta to a leadership role underscores RKTB’s ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities across the continuum of housing, from shelters and supportive units to affordable and market-rate homes as well as luxury residences. Working under principal Alex Brito, AIA, who leads the firm’s work in housing, Spiotta is expected to contribute to RKTB’s reputation for innovative design solutions and a growing roster of strategic partnerships with government agencies and with nonprofit and for-profit developers.

According to Brito, Spiotta has already made himself an indispensable team member, working on a wide range of projects including renovation work for shelters managed by New York’s Dept. of Homeless Services, as well as The Allerton, a 32-unit affordable housing development in Bronx, the first project on which Spiotta led project management on his own.

He has also contributed to the firm’s work on PreK-12 public school facilities for the NYC School Construction Authority, including the expansion of P.S. 116Q in Jamaica, Queens, under construction.

“Giuseppe brings consistent technical expertise and inspired creativity to our work for clients, and demonstrates a knack for leadership both internally and in collaborative settings with project partners,” said Brito. “His efforts derive benefits for the building end-users as much as for our developers and agency partners, and his work is regularly raising the bar on our RKTB’s own, already-high standards for deliverables.”

Spiotta joined RKTB’s design staff in 2014, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in architecture from New York Institute of Technology in 2012 and after working as an intern with Gavosto Associates.

Brito adds that Spiotta recently completed managing a major renovation of the ANCP West 134th street cluster, comprising several buildings totaling 69 affordable housing units in Harlem, shepherding the project from design through construction. Next he is set to oversee another similar renovation project for the 63 units in the ANCP 135th St.cluster, also in Harlem.

He credits his interest in designing buildings to growing up in a family of contractors and enjoying watching the process of construction and problem-solving. His time in college also included involvement in a fraternity whose membership was dominated by architecture majors, as well as travel to Egypt and Mexico.
