RKF arranges two leases at 1200 Madison Avenue totaling 2,680 s/f: Includes 1,705 s/f to bluemercury and 975 s/f to Brora

RKF has arranged two leases totaling 2,680 s/f at 1200 Madison Ave. on the Upper East Side with beauty retailer bluemercury and Scotland-based knitwear company Brora. The new bluemercury, scheduled to open soon, will occupy 1,705 s/f at the southwest corner of 88th St. and will be the brand's second location on the Upper East Side. RKF executive vice president Karen Bellantoni, senior associate Tess Jacoby and John Auber of The Auber Group represented bluemercury, while RKF vice president Beth Rosen, along with Marc Yassky of Shopco Properties LLC, represented the owner, 1200 Tenant Corp. The second lease at 1200 Madison Ave., totaling 975 s/f, represents Brora's first U.S. location. Rosen and Yassky represented the owner, while Robin Abrams and Alan Victor of Lansco represented Brora. The two new transactions mark the completion of leasing activity 1200 Madison Ave., which is located on the west block between 87th and 88th Sts. Situated steps from the "Museum Mile" and several elite retailers, bluemercury and Brora will share the block with building co-tenants crewcuts, Joie, Jack Rogers, Margo Manhattan and Ankasa, and will be in close proximity to other popular area retailers like Brooks Brothers, Theory, Madewell and lululemon athletica. RKF has previously represented bluemercury in two other Manhattan leases in Union Sq. and the West Village, as part of the brand's growth in New York and nationwide. With the new location, bluemercury will have a total of four Manhattan stores. "With their focus on luxury, upscale beauty products, this location on Madison Avenue really puts bluemercury in the heart of their core demographic," said Bellantoni. "There's nothing like bluemercury in the immediate area, and we're delighted that this visionary retailer has chosen one of Madison Avenue's most strategic retail locations for its newest store." Known for their signature Scottish cashmere sweaters and apparel, Brora currently operates 15 retail locations in the United Kingdom. "Given the demographics of the area and current high-end retail neighbors, Upper Madison was the perfect fit for Brora's U.S. debut," said Rosen. "The addition of Brora and bluemercury further strengthens co-tenancy in this submarket and solidifies Upper Madison as a retail destination for area residents. This neighborhood just north of 86th Street will continue to be the retail sub-market to watch."
