Manhattan, NY Reidy Contracting Group has completed Major League Soccer’s new global headquarters at 2 Penn Plaza, a transformative 126,000 s/f workplace that reflects the league’s growth and vision for the future of soccer in North America.
Constructed in partnership with TPG Architecture and Robert Derector Associates, the two-floor headquarters was designed around the concept of an “office as a stadium,” creating an immersive workplace experience that captures the energy, movement, and culture of the game both on and off the pitch.
The new headquarters nearly doubles MLS’s previous office footprint and features more than 80 meeting and collaboration spaces, a Match Day Center Operations Hub, executive and boardroom suites, hospitality spaces, and dynamic collaborative environments designed to support a growing global organization.
For Reidy Contracting Group, the project represented an opportunity to bring together sophisticated construction execution, complex building systems, and highly customized architectural details within one of New York City’s most prominent commercial developments.
Key features of the project include:
A dramatic interconnecting staircase featuring a custom-fabricated handrail with integrated lighting and a suspended stadium-inspired AV ring.
Premium acoustic wood paneling throughout the main boardrooms.
Custom Newmat vinyl ceilings incorporated into executive suites and boardrooms.
Integrated architectural lighting systems, digital displays, and custom AV installations throughout the space.
A hospitality-driven café environment featuring Armstrong metal mesh ceilings, a dedicated on-site IT Genius Bar, custom millwork, and feature canopy installations.
Extensive branding, graphics, and digital storytelling elements woven throughout the headquarters experience.
The headquarters was carefully designed to celebrate every aspect of Major League Soccer’s identity. From tunnel-inspired arrival experiences and a central “Midfield” collaboration hub to immersive displays showcasing league history, club culture, and real-time match data, every detail reinforces the connection between workplace, brand, and sport.
“The completion of Major League Soccer’s new global headquarters represents the type of transformative project that defines our work at Reidy Contracting Group,” said Daniel Monteiro, managing partner of Reidy Contracting Group. “This project required exceptional coordination, craftsmanship, and collaboration across all teams involved. We are incredibly proud to have partnered with Major League Soccer, TPG Architecture, and the entire project team to deliver a workplace that not only supports the league’s operations, but also serves as a physical expression of its continued growth, innovation, and global ambitions. Seeing this vision come to life at such a pivotal moment for the sport in North America makes this project especially meaningful.”
“From the beginning, this project challenged us to execute at the highest level across every discipline,” said Oscar Parajon, project manager at Reidy Contracting Group. “The complexity of the space, from the interconnecting staircase and integrated AV systems to the custom architectural finishes and highly coordinated operations environments, required constant collaboration, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence from every member of the team. We’re extremely proud of what was accomplished and honored to have helped deliver a headquarters that reflects the energy, ambition, and future of Major League Soccer.”
As Major League Soccer enters a pivotal chapter, following the success of the FIFA World Cup on North American soil and amid continued expansion and growing international influence, the new headquarters stands as a lasting investment in the future of the sport and the organization itself.
Designed to reflect the league’s growth and ambition as it builds toward the next era of the sport in North America, the new headquarters serves as a physical expression of the MLS brand at a defining moment in its history. The workplace was conceived around the idea of creating an environment that captures the energy of the game on and off the pitch.
Located at 2 Penn Plaza in New York City, the 126,000 s/f headquarters spans two floors and features over 80 meeting and collaboration spaces. Anchored in one of the world’s leading sports and media capitals, the headquarters was purpose-built as a technology-enabled global operations hub.
The “office as a stadium” concept, developed by TPG Architecture, mirrors the movement, excitement, and connectivity of the sport itself. From player-inspired arrival experiences to the central “Midfield” collaboration hub and locker room-inspired environments, the space celebrates the culture and ecosystem of Major League Soccer.
A tunnel-inspired entry sequence transforms arrival into an immersive experience through dynamic lighting and customizable digital moments. Throughout the headquarters, the league’s core pillars—club, country, and community—are brought to life through immersive displays, a central trophy installation, and a living champions wall.
The headquarters also seamlessly integrates digital innovation with MLS’s rich history and heritage. Dynamic digital displays are balanced with curated memorabilia and artifacts, while real-time match data and league content are displayed throughout the workplace. Every MLS club is represented throughout the space, ensuring that the identity of the entire league is visible and celebrated.
Design details throughout the headquarters reinforce the league’s connection to the sport, from lighting inspired by the original 1996 MLS official match ball to architectural forms drawn from the geometry of the soccer pitch and championship trophy.
One of the project’s most innovative features is the Match Day Center Operations Hub, a centralized command center that monitors and supports all MLS matches, integrating real-time sports data and live camera feeds into a single operational environment.
Following the FIFA World Cup on North American soil, and as Major League Soccer enters a new era of growth and global recognition, the timing of the new headquarters could not have been more significant. The new workplace serves not only as a headquarters, but as a lasting investment in the future of the league, its clubs, its fans, and the sport itself.
