Melville, NY Racanelli Construction Company, Inc., a leading construction management, general contractor and design/build resource for commercial, industrial, retail, medical, pre-engineered and multi-unit residential projects, has been confirmed by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) at the STEP Diamond Level in 2022 for safety. Founded in 1989 as a safety benchmarking and improvement tool, STEP has evolved into a world-class safety management system that dramatically improves safety performance among participants regardless of company size or type of work. Participating ABC member firms measure their safety processes and policies on 25 key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents. Racanelli Construction’s company-wide safety initiatives are led by Douglas Winter, director of Safety – OSHA Trainer/BCSP-CHST. A highly credential safety professional, Winter’s role focuses on assuring the company’s compliance with all workplace safety regulations and specifically those  pertaining to the construction job site. The company emphasizes ongoing safety training for its employees with the goal of accident prevention by keeping them informed of potential hazards and OSHA regulations for the construction industry. The company’s safety initiatives are documented in a comprehensive, written safety plan designed outlining hazards and best practices for their mitigation.

As a Diamond STEP member company, Racanelli Construction is eligible to apply for ABC’s National Safety Excellence Award.
