REBNY Member Profile: Sarah Saltzberg 2022
Name: Sarah Saltzberg
Title: Co-Founder and Principal Broker
Company: Bohemia Realty Group
Location: Upper Manhattan, NY
Birthplace: Boston, MA
Education: BFA from Boston University
First job: My first job was working as a waitress
First job in real estate or allied field: I worked at a firm called Real Renters when I first got my license, and after two years moved to City Connections Realty. I was there for about eight years before I opened Bohemia.
What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? Bohemia currently has three offices and about 90 agents, and I oversee sales, marketing, and company culture. One of my favorite parts of the job is working in new development—branding a building, coming up with collateral, and watching a project take on its own life. We have multiple new dev. rentals and sales in the pipeline, and I love this creative process.
How do you unwind from a busy day? I have two young children and coming home to them and my husband at the end of the day—while maybe not “unwinding”—helps me de-stress from anything at work. That, and watching a solid hour of Netflix!
Favorite book or author: Malcolm Gladwell
Favorite movie: “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”
Favorite streaming series: “Dead to Me”
One word to describe your work environment: Energized
Rules to live by in business: “If you work really hard and are kind, amazing things will happen” – I have this Conan O’Brien quote hanging in my office.
If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead, but not related to you) who would it be and where would you go? Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and we’d go to a diner and talk and drink coffee all night.
What is your DREAM job? (something other than your current job) My other career is in the arts, and I have been a creator, writer, actress, and producer on and off-Broadway (I actually got into real estate when I was working on a show that became The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.) Working in the arts feeds my soul and is something I would do full time again!
