What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? Leading a dedicated team of design professionals on complex design and architectural projects, often with historic elements.

How do you unwind from a busy day? Direct contact with family – my wife, son and daughter – and hands-on outdoor garden design projects.

Favorite book or author: Currently reading Lukianoff/Haidt’s “The Coddling of the American Mind” and planting books by and about Piet Oudolf, the Dutch plantsmen responsible for the High Line’s natural plantings.

Favorite movie: Not complaining, but the prevailing screen choices given my family demographic are anything in the Adam Sandler filmography.

Favorite streaming series: “The Parisian”, “Agency”, “Ozark”, and any Sherlock Holmes

One word to describe your work environment: Uncluttered

Rules to live by in business: Treat people as you would like to be treated and make decisions based on principled reasoning.

If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead, but not related to you) who would it be and where would you go? (Note to Editor: although your question prefers using someone non-related, Steven hopes his grandfather is acceptable.) My grandpa Alex, who owned a downtown Kansas City furniture store. He promoted psychological pricing theories involving decimal points and 99 cents, creating long number strings. We’d eat at home because he wouldn’t have liked an expensive restaurant.

What is your DREAM job? (Something other than your current job) Combination of building architect and landscape designer, blending Frank Lloyd Wright and Piet Oudolf.
