David Maundrell III - 2016

Name: David Maundrell III - 2016

Title: Executive Vice President of New Developments – Brooklyn & Queens

Company: Citi Habitats

Location: 482 Driggs Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY

Birthplace: Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY

Education: B.A. from St John’s University

First job outside of real estate: My first real job was I worked in the deli department in a supermarket during high school.

First job in real estate or allied field: I was an assistant at Mitchell Maxwell & Jackson Appraisers while in college.

What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? After selling aptsandlofts.com in October of 2015 I am now the EVP New Developments – Brooklyn & Queens at Citi Habitats. I currently oversee more than 100 new rental and condominium developments across all 5 boroughs of NYC.  In total, I’ll be helping launch over 12,000 new apartments in the coming years.

How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate? I’m an avid sports fan and in in the summer I watch the Mets and in the winter / fall the Knicks and the Jets. Also, since I live in DUMBO Brooklyn I have developed a fondness of walking over the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges which also allows me to decompress a bit.

Favorite book or author: I am more of news guy than books.

Favorite movie: Tough question but either of the last two Star Wars movies would do.

Last song you purchased/downloaded? SIA – Cheap Thrills with Sean Paul.  It’s a good summer song!

One word to describe your work environment: Collaborative

Rules to live by in business: Always keep learning, analyzing your performance and working hard - no matter how successful you have become at your craft. There is always something new to learn and there is always someone coming up from behind to try and take your spot. Also, you must treat people right. That is rule #1.

If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead, but not related to you) who would it be and where would you go? I’d invite Brooklyn icon Jay-Z to dinner at 11 Madison Park.

What is your DREAM job? (something other than your current job) I think I want to be the captain of the ‘Beast’ speed boat that takes tourists on a high-speed ride around New York harbor. I can’t see one downside to that job.
