Professional Profile: Alexandra Marolda 2022

Name: Alexandra Marolda
Title: Associate Director, Tri-State Investment Sales Company: Avison Young
Company: Avison Young
Location: New York, NY
Birthplace: Manhattan, NY
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Richmond
First job: In high school, I worked as a salesperson in a luxury clothing boutique.
First job in real estate or allied field: Property manager at a family office
What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? I’m continually expanding my real estate knowledge and network as a commercial real estate salesperson. That commitment is vital for me to contribute to the Avison Young sales team and to serve as a resource for investors and brokers alike.
What do you see as an emerging or dominant trend in real estate for 2022? There’s been a tremendous rebound over the past 15+ months, but rising interest rates are creating uncertainty and related slowdowns in certain pockets of the market. Buyers and sellers tend to react much differently to risk, which in turn impacts the roles of brokers, lawyers, and other advisors. For the rest of 2022, we’ll see deals being done by those with higher risk tolerance and by those with very well-informed approaches to risk.
How do you unwind from a busy day? I clear my head by going for a run every day and enjoy my walk home from work.
Favorite book or author: “Atomic Habits”
Favorite movie: Anything funny, but “My Cousin Vinny” is my go-to, feel-good movie
One word to describe your work environment: Collaborative
Rules to live by in business: Being confident in your work and being ready to learn & listen to others are not mutually exclusive. In addition, it’s so important to pursue work that is stimulating and enjoyable.
If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead, but not related to you) who would it be and where would you go? Ruth Bader Ginsberg and anywhere (as long as the food is good)
What is your DREAM job? (something other than your current job) I aspire to eventually have my own commercial real estate portfolio.
