Name: Alan Dandron - 2015

Title: Design Principal

Company: Mancini Duffy

Location: 275 Seventh Ave., New York, N.Y. 10001

Birthplace: Monroe, Michigan

Education:  University of Michigan

First job outside of real estate:  I worked for my father’s roofing contracting business.

First job in real estate or allied field:  Catallo Associates in Birmingham, Michigan.

What do you do now and what are you planning for the future?  I am a design principal, and I work with our large-scale corporate clients to help them identify and understand their project drivers and create environments that positively impact their business.

How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate? I spend time with my partner and two dogs. I am also an avid gardener.

Favorite book or author:   Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Favorite movie:  I am an old movie buff and there are simply too many to have a favorite. If I had to choose, I would select “Auntie Mame.”

Last song you purchased/downloaded?  I’ve actually stopped downloading music and simply stream music through Pandora.

One word to describe your work environment: Collaborative.

Rules to live by in business: I believe that there should be no surprises with clients. Clients need to be fully informed on design decisions. I also find the most successful projects are based on building a strong team with the client.

If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead, but not related to you) who would it be and where would you go? Mies van der Rohe, at the Four Seasons. I would like to walk through one of his projects, like Lafayette Park in Detroit, and understand his inspiration.

What is your dream job?  My dream job is the job that I have now where I am able to nurture younger staff and help them to grow, and work with clients to help them grow their business.
