Professional Profile: Tara Woebbe-Alcaraz, 2014

Name: Tara Woebbe-Alcaraz, CBCI Title: Program Manager Company: Remlu, Inc. Location: New York, N.Y. Birthplace: New York, N.Y. Education: Bachelor of Arts from Siena College First job outside of real estate: Legislative assistant, New York State senate First job in real estate or allied field: Program administrator at Remlu, Inc. What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? Currently, I manage and administer our N.Y. and Northern Virginia/D.C. programs in commercial high-rise preparedness, to include plan maintenance and training for building staffs and occupants. In this capacity, I am privileged to learn the character of each building we work with, and walk away each day feeling confident that the work I do serves an important role in the buildings we serve. The future is exciting as we are beginning to introduce HandPlan, a mobile application that enables users to plan for, respond to, and recover from incidents and emergencies. It is a management tool that enhances the preparedness level of the buildings and organizations that choose to utilize the program. How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate? I end the day by relaxing with my family. My husband and I are proud parents to a nine month old boy, and each day is a new adventure! Favorite book or author: I find it impossible to choose just one, but I highly recommend "The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes - and Why" by Amanda Ripley One word to describe your work environment: Dynamic Rules to live by in business: "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do." - Steve Jobs What is your dream job? Commissioner of the NYC Office of Emergency Management

We support green construction. Just not this kind - by Tammy Smith

Most people think of St. Patrick’s Day as a fun footnote on the calendar. In construction logistics, however, it’s a full-scale operational variable — especially if your work touches major metro areas with major parades and, let’s call it what it is, enthusiastic celebrants.
