I had the fortune of being one of the first women partners in our law firm, and much has changed in the commercial real estate industry from the time I began my career in the late 1970s. Although the field is still dominated by men, I'm happy to say that more women are entering the industry each year.
Throughout the years, not only have I honed my real estate skills to become the best possible attorney I could be, but also I have spent a great deal of time nurturing my client base. Through my involvement in various charitable, not-for-profit and trade organizations, I have built a strong network that has helped me to sustain and grow my practice.
I can't emphasize enough the importance of breaking comfort zones, of volunteering for causes that matter to you, and of getting out there to make a difference in the community. By doing so, you will gain the respect of your peers and your present and potential clients. And, always remember how important it is for women to help women.
