NYSCAR October courseswell received by participants; April 2nd - 3rd, 2014 Annual Education/Marketing Event

By Michael Johnson As I write this article, I am preparing to leave for the National Association of Realtors Annual Conference in San Francisco, CA. Please watch for an update of the meetings in the December column. The NYSCAR board of governors met at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York on September 29th. The following individuals were elected to serve as officers for 2014: * President, John Lavelle, Pine Bush; * First vice president, Brian DiNardo, Rochester; * Second vice president, Guy Blake, CCIM, Newburgh; * Treasurer, Greg Oehler, Rochester; and * Secretary, James Walker, Glenham. The following members were elected as governors: Scott Burdett, (Rochester), James Knight (Buffalo), Donald E. Welch, SIOR (Albany) and Ted Welter, CCIM, CPM (Rochester). Congratulations to all! October 23-24, NYSCAR in cooperation with The Greater Capital Chapter sponsored "Taking Control of Your Retirement Accounts: Self-Directed IRAs and Alternative Investments" with William Exeter (San Diego, CA). Students enjoyed Exeter's presentation and had a great day of networking at the marketing session held on October 24th. The course and marketing session were held at the Ramada Inn in Albany. Many thanks to James Walker and Bob Giniecki, CCIM, SEC for teaching: "Introduction to Creative Marketing of Commercial Real Estate" and Tim Conley, CCIM, SIOR who taught "Turning Real Estate Knowledge into Income" at the Second CAN AM event October 7th-8th in Niagara Falls, sponsored by NYS Commercial Assoc. of Realtors, Society of Exchange Counselors, CCIM Chapters of Upstate NY and Central Canada CCIM Chapter; Co-hosted by WNY Chapter NYSCAR. Both courses and the marketing session were well received by the participants. Please mark your calendar for April 2nd-3rd, 2014 for the Annual Education/Marketing event at the Hyatt House in Fishkill, NY with the Hudson Valley Chapter of NYSCAR.
