NCCED now taking applications for Micro-enterprise Assistance Program
The Niagara County Center for Economic Development (NCCED) is taking applications for the Micro-enterprise Assistance Program. The Micro-enterprise Assistance Program is administered by the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency (NCIDA) and offers assistance to low-to-moderate income entrepreneurs who are interested in starting and operating their own business in Niagara County. Owners of existing small businesses (employing 5 or less) are also eligible to apply for this program if they wish to expand their business and provide employment opportunities for low-to-moderate income individuals.
Technical assistance is provided free of charge to participants in the program including help with business plan preparation, information on incorporation, financing, accounting and other areas.
Program participants will attend a 12 week business training course one night per week for 3 hours at the Niagara County Community College. Program graduates who complete the required classroom training are eligible to apply for low-cost flexible term financing up to a maximum amount of $25,000, no commitment fee, interest and principal is deferred for 6 months. Program graduates may also receive assistance in accessing capital from other public and private resources.
The Micro-enterprise Assistance Program will be held beginning in February 2014. Applications must be received by January 3, 2014 and interviews will be conducted in January 2014.
