Monroe Roadways awarded contract for site construction at Rochester Institute of Technology

Monroe Roadways, was awarded the contract for site construction services of the new pedestrian quad on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus (RIT). Located south of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability building in the former CIMS vehicular rotary, the improvements include new pathways and a pedestrian plaza surrounding the existing fountain. Monroe partnered with locally-based McCord Snyder Landscape Architecture, who handled engineering services on the project which is slated for completion in January. "Monroe Roadways continues to show its expertise in meeting the growing needs of the respected universities around our community," said Monroe Roadways president, Jeff Taylor. "The targeted LEED Platinum certification for this project further instills the commitment of the Rochester Institute of Technology to promote environmentally responsible, and healthy places to learn." The pedestrian quad is part of the new home for the Golisano Institute for Sustainability. Looking to obtain LEED certification rating of Platinum from the U.S. Green Building Council, it's planned to achieve the highest levels of sustainable design and operation. The facility will be a lab for scientific discovery and experiential learning.
