MKDA designs 17,000 s/f office space at 6 West 48th St.

Leading interior space planning and design firm MKDA recently designed a three-floor, 17,000 s/f office space at 6 West 48th Street for Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, a non-profit organization that helps donors create thoughtful and effective philanthropy throughout the world. According to MKDA, the design firm renovated the entire tenth and eleventh floors as well as most of the ninth floor. "Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors' mantra was to create an office environment that was warm and inviting for both its clients and employees, and having come from a well-appointed and conservative office, the organization also wanted a unique and natural space befitting a non-profit organization," said MKDA president Michael Kleinberg. "Additionally, we were given the task to translate the organization's concern with the global environment into a space utilizing sustainable products throughout," said MKDA senior vice president and director of design Daniel DeSiena, who was a founding member of New York's first ever green interior design exposition and trade show, Green October, and a green office design newsletter, Seed. "MKDA maximized the benefit of the small boutique building and created a unique identity for the organization on three floors, giving the organization a larger presence than they would otherwise get in a much larger building," said Studley executive managing director Daniel Horowitz, who represented Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors in locating the space.
