Manhattan, NY MetroLoft Development has launched a collaboration for the kitchens of its 443 Greenwich condominium project in the TriBeCa neighborhood, designed by the architectural firm CetraRuddy and fabricated by cabinetmaker Christopher Peacock. Not only is this the first such collaboration between Christopher Peacock and a design firm like CetraRuddy, but it also represents a rare multi-unit project for the cabinetmaker better known for its made-to-order single-family work.
The condominiums’ kitchens are finished in dark-stained white oak cabinetry with walnut interior surfaces and antiqued bronze hardware. The island is topped with Calacatta marble, highlighted with polished stainless steel straps. All appliances are stainless steel and glass, and marble and schist are used as accent, backsplash and base materials. Floors are white oak plank. A nearby wet bar’s glass doors have narrow acid-etched stripes to add visual depth. Appliances include a Meiele espresso maker, two dishwashers, a glass-fronted 70-bottle Gaggenau wine fridge with two zones as well as drawers in which to warm cappuccino cups before coffee is poured.
CetraRuddy, the Soho-based architecture and interior design firm, has a prestigious record of award-winning homes, luxury condominiums and market-leading kitchen concepts. The firm is also noted for the high degree of quality and craft it brings to residential designs, the world over. “We are very excited about the kitchens at 433 Greenwich that we designed in collaboration with Christopher Peacock,” says Nancy Ruddy, founding principal and executive director of interior design. “The kitchen is the heart of today’s home, and we sought to create great spaces for living -- hand-tooled with Refined metals and fine woods, the designs form an inspiring and magnetic centerpiece for these unique and exclusive homes.”
Christopher Peacock Home is recognized as one of the top names in luxury cabinetry design, in the U.S. and internationally. Founded in 1992, the firm has established the paradigm of beautiful hand-crafted cabinetry in the British tradition, made to order in the USA. With a philosophy of classic understated elegance, Christopher Peacock has participated in the most prestigious designer show houses across the country, and its portfolio of work includes numerous projects for many high profile clients from the worlds of art, sports, and business.
According to Richard Cantor, whose firm Cantor-Pecorella is marketing the building, the involvement of CetraRuddy and Christopher Peacock imparts an exclusivity that gives 443 Greenwich an edge in the ultra-competitive luxury market. “It’s common for listing agents to say ‘nobody else has this,’ but in our case, it’s actually true,” he points out. “The market in New York is at a level where buyers expect the best amenities as a matter of course, so adding a unique and bespoke touch is a crucial differentiator.”
It’s differentiating elements like the kitchens, combined with other features and services such as drive-in/drive-out underground parking with valet services, an extraordinary 4,000 s/f landscaped interior garden designed by the renowned HMWhite, a hammam with men’s and women’s locker rooms, and a 75-foot lap pool with travertine marble walls, that marks 443 Greenwich as one of New York City’s most creative and daring luxury residential projects. Closings have begun this month, with residents moving in over the summer.
