Meet the ICSC Member: Leo Ullman

Leo Ullman, CEO, president and chairman of the board of directors at Cedar Shopping Centers, Inc., has been involved in real estate property and asset management for approximately 25 years. He was chairman and president of the real estate management companies which were merged into the company in 2003, and their respective predecessors and affiliates, since 1978. Ullman was first elected as the company's chairman in April 1998 and served until November 1999. He was re-elected in December 2000. Ullman also has been CEO and president from April 1998 to date. He has been a member of the New York Bar since 1966 and was in private legal practice until 1998. From 1984 until 1993, he was a partner in the New York law firm of Reid & Priest (now Thelen, Reid & Priest), and served as initial director of its real estate group. Ullman received an A.B. from Harvard University, an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. He has lectured and written several books, monographs and articles on investment in U.S. real estate, and is a former adjunct professor of business at the NYU Graduate School of Business. 2024 Year in Review: William O’Brien, M.C. O’Brien, Inc.

What noteworthy transactions or deals from this year best exemplified key market trends or shifts? I would like to say there was an outstanding transaction for me this past year but 2024 was more a culmination of long-term relationships, most of which continued to transact. Deals were smaller in many cases but we saw robust leasing both on the agency side as well as on the tenant side.
