McAlpine Contracting promotes Montalvo

New York, NY McAlpine Contracting has promoted Mark Montalvo to director of construction. Montalvo previously served as senior project manager at the company’s Long Island regional office in Bay Shore.

In his new position, Montalvo will be based at the company’s headquarters in Manhattan and oversee the firm’s projects throughout the Northeast. His responsibilities will include management of estimating and bids, project logistics, construction activities, and close outs. He will supervise site personnel and lead interactions with clients.

“Since joining the company in 2005, Mark has successfully managed some of McAlpine’s most challenging projects. Most recently, he supervised construction of the $3 million Harmony Early Learning Center in Wantagh, NY, which was completed five months ahead of schedule despite the pandemic-related restrictions placed on construction operations. We are excited to promote Mark and look forward to his continued contributions to the growth of our firm,” said McAlpine CEO Troy Caruso.

Montalvo’s project portfolio exceeds $500 million in construction value and features completed projects in the healthcare, senior housing, multifamily, hospitality, retail, office, education, non-profit, and institutional market segments. His recent projects include the $70 million The Lois, a 250-unit multifamily ground-up project at 350 Clarkson St. in Brooklyn, NY; four new Walgreens pharmacies and convenience stores in Queens, NY and Brooklyn, NY; the $19 million, 90,000 s/f Amber Court Nursing Home in Smithtown, NY; the $17 million, 90,000 s/f Apex Apartments in Elmsford, NY; the Hilton Garden Inn and the Hampton Inn hotels, both in Nanuet, NY; and the $1.1 million, 8,000 s/f Nation Health Care Associates corporate office in Valley Stream, NY.

Prior to joining McAlpine, Montalvo operated his own contracting firm, KDM Construction, based in Medford, NY. He also served as a Foreman at J&S Construction and Miller Construction. Montalvo studied electrical engineering at Old Dominion University and liberal arts at Suffolk County Community College.
