Mc Gowan Builders completes renovation project at Hotel Beacon; Installed new Bar Beacon lounge and various interiors

Mc Gowan Builders (www.mcgowanbuilders.com) has completed a renovation project at the Hotel Beacon, located at 2130 Broadway. The scope of the renovation project undertaken by Mc Gowan Builders included the installation of a new Bar Beacon lounge in the 260-room hotel, in addition to the installation of new corporate office and kitchen facility and function spaces in the lower level. Hotel Beacon is a landmark hotel, located on the Upper West Side, situated at Broadway and 75th St. Mc Gowan's project team conducted the complete demolition and installation of new interior areas of Hotel Beacon's first floor and lower level. The newly designed and installed interiors spaces included a new bar, lounge and restaurant, a new back-of-house food preparation area and new lavatories on the first floor. In addition, the project scope included installing a new kitchen and pantry, a multi-purpose function space, a fitness center and administrative offices in the hotel's lower level. Mc Gowan adhered to Hotel Beacon's project schedule and completed the hotel's project renovations in its planned 14-week period. This renovation project was undertaken in a fully occupied and functioning hotel. Performing construction in an occupied hotel requires that the contractor coordinate with the hotel staff and patrons, as well as its equipment and lighting vendors, all work activities to ensure that the Hotel's atmosphere is preserved throughout the entire project schedule. Hotel Beacon selected Mc Gowan for the project given the firm's experience in the hospitality industry and proven success completing complex projects, some of which were done in occupied hotels, all with demanding schedules and cost budgets. Mc Gowan's project portfolio includes a number of notable hospitality and residential projects, including the redevelopment of the Dream Downtown Hotel, the complete renovation of the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel, including the installation of the Chairman's Grill Restaurant, and the addition of over 22,000 s/f of new retail and community space beneath the existing plaza level at the Leader House.

Most people think of St. Patrick’s Day as a fun footnote on the calendar. In construction logistics, however, it’s a full-scale operational variable — especially if your work touches major metro areas with major parades and, let’s call it what it is, enthusiastic celebrants.
