MBI Group completes 83,000 s/f, $30 million theater for Blumenfield Group and Regal Entertainment Group

Lynbrook, NY MBI Group, a NYC-based construction firm specializing in ground-up construction and interior fit-outs, was retained as general contractor for the construction of Regal Entertainment Group’s new 13-screen movie theater located at 321 Merrick Rd. The 83,000 s/f theater features a Regal Premium Experience (RPX) theater with surround sound, 2D and 3D images, and seats that can vibrate and have built-in speakers.

The scope of the new $30 million Regal theater included the demolition of the century-old United Artist theater that previously occupied the site; the excavation for the new building; site work; structural steel, concrete, roofing, elevator and escalator elements; installation of security systems and high-end finishes; storefront and curtain wall systems; the installation of the exterior metal panels and pneumatic tube system; as well as extensive electrical, life safety and mechanical work and various audio visual components. MBI’s project team worked with the developer, Blumenfeld Group and Regal. Other members of the design team included JKRP Architects, Enviro Design & Mechanical Engineering, RMS Engineering, and Pennoni Associates as structural engineer.

“MBI Group is proud to have completed the new movie theater for Regal Entertainment Group, one of the largest and most prestigious movie theater chains in the country,” said Alex Getelman, executive managing director of MBI Group. “The way people consume entertainment has changed significantly, but one thing hasn’t: people still love going to the movies. We are excited for Lynbrook and the surrounding Long Island communities to experience and enjoy this high-quality, modern theater. For over 30 years, MBI Group has been dedicated to construction and general contracting excellence for commercial properties in the New York area and beyond.”
