Manhattan, NY According to Manhattan Skyline Management Corp., it has brought Birch Coffee to the streets of SoHo with a signed lease for Manhattan Skyline’s 500 s/f, ground-floor commercial space at 71 West Houston St., between West Broadway and Wooster St. The newest spot, near Washington Sq. Park, will mark the coffee shop’s eighth site in the city.

With 22 ft. of frontage on West Houston St., the move-in ready SoHo boutique space formerly housed Kaori’s Closet.

Joshua Roth, vice president, retail leasing for Manhattan Skyline represented the landlord in the deal. Birch Coffee was advised by Kyle Allen.

“Smaller, independent chains like Birch Coffee are continually increasing in popularity and are popping up all over the city,” said Roth. “SoHo is synonymous with boutique luxuries, and we have no doubt this will be an ideal location to leverage the artisanal coffee trend,” said Roth.

“While there are a number of places for great coffee in Soho, we’re excited to bring the Birch Coffee experience, with our emphasis on great customer service, to the neighborhood,” said Birch co-founder Jeremy Lyman. “We’ve designed the look and feel to reflect the areas art and fashion notoriety and are excited to become part of this iconic neighborhood.”

Birch Coffee takes pride in providing freshly-brewed beans straight from the farm to the cup. The menu offers an array of options from traditional cappuccinos to cold brew, and specializes in customized drinks. In addition to pastries and other snacks from local vendors, Birch Coffee goes a step further and also offers classes ranging from the one-hour “Coffee 101,” to a three-hour “Barista Training and Technical Skills” course.

“Coffee is a conduit for artistry, creativity, and conversation amongst the community. We’re excited to spark new conversations about coffee in one of the city’s most talked about neighborhoods. As a NYC born operation and roaster, we feel the latest shop will pay homage to Birch’s story,” said Birch co-founder Paul Schlader.

Birch Coffee will share the neighborhood with eatery options such as Sadelle’s and The Dutch. Other nearby tenants include Apple, Marc Jacobs, Benefit, The Mercer, and Pegu Club.
