Bohemia, NY The environment, and our impact upon it, is now a pivotal topic in every industry. It informs nearly every level of contemporary policy, planning, and development. As such, it is as inescapable as it is essential. At P.W. Grosser Consulting, Inc. (PWGC), their focus has been on developing, integrating, and implementing the best environmental practices in a host of industries. For more than 30 years, PWGC has consulted with firms and organizations involved in real estate, education, aviation, healthcare, insurance, and much more. Its wide range of expertise has been called upon not only by the private sector but in the federal and municipal sectors, too.

Before a building, facility or complex is designed, built, redeveloped, or put on the market, a wide range of environmental considerations–not to mention various state and federal compliance orders–must be fully addressed. Here, PWGC’s multidisciplinary engineering and environmental experience is an invaluable resource to architects, major contractors, developers, planners, building and business owners.

Beyond codes and legal requirements is something more essential, which is creating diverse, often inventive environmental solutions for a more sustainable future. And not just for the client of course, but for a given community and the public at large.

Spreading the Word

PWGC is not only a highly respected group of engineers and specialists, but it also remains steadfast in its commitment to greater environmental awareness and backing up that commitment with action. Toward that constructive end, PWGC has created a series of informative podcasts, covering multiple topics.

PWGC’s listener-friendly Environmental Echo Podcast amplifies discussions on environmental work that’s changing the way we live, and the people who are making it happen. Subjects include: Warming Up to Geothermal Energy; Lake & Pond Rehabilitation; The Impact of Surface & Stormwater on Our Water Supply; What is Your Carbon Footprint?; and more than a dozen other timely topics. Discussion guests have included Brookhaven town supervisor Edward Romaine, Suffolk County legislator Robert Calarco, and Village of Patchogue mayor Paul Pontieri.

The information presented on Environmental Echo is of critical importance, but the spirit of this podcast remains upbeat and positive. After all, the presenters are problem solvers. Everyone is welcome to listen in. In fact, anyone can go to this site to suggest new topics and guests.

A Continual Record of Accomplishment

To accomplish all they have, while looking forward to future challenges and solutions, PWGC maintains a team of dedicated experts in these areas: due diligence, groundwater, water supply engineering, wastewater design and waste management, health compliance, industrial hygiene, resiliency analysis and design. The firm also has specialists in marine construction, mine development and monitoring, geotechnical engineering, and advanced geothermal work.

One recent example is the firm’s outstanding geothermal heating and cooling system for the renovation of the famed St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. This American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACECNY) award-winning project was one of the largest systems of its kind to date in New York City. Having consulted with the Archdiocese of NYC, looking to meet its goal of better environmental stewardship and energy savings, it trusted PWGC to design and engineer an innovative and more sustainable HVAC system successfully using geothermal technology.

In all its assignments, the firm prides itself in innovative thinking and performance and, equally, on coming up with solutions that are cost-effective or within the defined budget parameters. Experts in planning, PWGC is also a well-versed authority in emergency response situations—something they take significant pride in.

To maintain the stated goal of creating client driven solutions, the firm remains committed to what its clients care most about. This includes everything from carbon footprint analysis, to reducing nitrogen levels in local waterways, to keeping all our clients informed on ever-changing environmental rules and regulations. To address all this, and much more, executive chairman, Paul Grosser, PHD, PE, PG, and CEO/president, Paul Boyce, PE, PG, lead a staff of more than 70 top professionals, which includes an enviable array of environmental, civil and chemical engineers, hydrogeologists, geologists, and environmental scientists who stay up to date and endlessly responsive. In fact, the firm recently added new associates to multiple divisions, expanding its range.

To PWGC, this is about more than just adding to an already distinguished track record. Above all, it represents an ongoing commitment to excellence.

According to Grosser, “Our reputation has long been based on responsiveness. To listening well, looking carefully, and then acting skillfully. Our dedication has not only been to our craft and to our clients, but to the larger community.”
