Langan Engineering’s TSX Broadway project recognized in national engineering competition

Manhattan, NY Langan Engineering, Environmental, Surveying, Landscape Architecture and Geology, DPC of New York has earned an Honor Award for exemplary engineering achievement in the American Council of Engineering Companies’ (ACEC) 58^th annual Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) for its role in the TSX Broadway project.

Langan provided geotechnical engineering services for this transformative project, which involved lifting the landmark Palace Theater 30 ft. to create retail space in conjunction with construction of a new hotel at one of the busiest intersections in Times Sq. Langan performed numerous geotechnical and foundation investigations to develop unique foundation and excavation support designs required for the complex project.

Langan’s intricate approach to the investigations allowed for all below-grade and bracing work to occur simultaneously with the partial building demolition and theater lift. This collaborative approach reduced waste, minimized CO2 emissions, and kept the project on schedule despite the complexity of the task.

Langan provides comprehensive environmental and engineering consulting services to a broad range of clients across the U.S. and overseas.

Judging for the awards program took place in February and was conducted by a national 32-member panel of built environment leaders, along with experts from government, media, and academia. Award criteria focused on uniqueness and originality, technical innovation, social and economic value, and generating excitement for the engineering profession.

Recognition of all award winners—including 16 Honor Awards, eight Grand Awards, and the prestigious “Grand Conceptor Award” for the year’s most outstanding overall engineering achievement—will take place at the EEA Gala, to be held at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
