Manhattan, NY L.B. Copeland Interior Design, under the direction of Louise Copeland, recently completed the interior design of a model residence within Claremont Hall, the Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA)-designed residential development located at 100 Claremont Ave. in the city’s Morningside Heights neighborhood. Within the historic Union Theological Seminary campus and developed by Lendlease and Daiwa House Texas Inc., Claremont Hall offers 165 condominium residences with views of the Hudson River and the New York City skyline.

L.B. Copeland Interior Design’s intention was to create an inspiring and inviting space that resonates with prospective buyers, showcasing the potential for a sophisticated lifestyle in this remarkable setting — one that enriches the architectural landscape of the area and elevates the standard of luxury living in the city.

Designed for an imagined couple downsizing from Park Ave., the three-bedroom model residence exudes elegance, warmth, and sophistication. L.B. Copeland Interior Design’s vision centers on a couple in their 50s seeking a home that seamlessly blends comfort, artful living, and city culture. The design embraces a polished, Refined style that pays homage to RAMSA’s architecture while introducing contemporary furnishings that reflect the couple’s artistic sensibilities.

Dark wood accents subtly reference the building’s Collegiate Gothic character, balancing rich textures with lighter palettes and layered materials. In the open living and dining area, L.B. Copeland Interior Design emphasized the views including those of Riverside Church, and a sense of urban refinement. Hand-painted mirrors in the dining area reflect light and create depth, while a commanding artwork by Joe Turner serves as a focal point. The dining table base featuring Doric columns nods to the classic architecture of nearby Columbia University and Barnard College, rooting the design in its historic surroundings.

The secondary bedrooms, designed for the couple’s adult sons, retain hints of their past while functioning as versatile guest rooms. Each room includes a queen bed, vintage touches celebrating the sons’ achievements, and a desk that provides adaptability for office use when they are away.

The unit also has landscaped outdoor space including a loggia - a hallmark of the RAMSA tower design.

Decorating this Claremont Hall residence was a unique experience for L.B. Copeland Interior Design, as the team typically tailors designs for individual clients rather than an imagined buyer profile.

The unit’s thoughtfully selected elements—from curated finishes to subtle collegiate influences—create a livable environment that retains broad appeal and aligns seamlessly with Claremont Hall’s luxury ambiance, enhancing the overall marketability of this prestigious development.

The result is a warm, inviting aesthetic that combines vintage charm with carefully chosen furnishings, creating a stylish yet approachable home. L.B. Copeland Interior Design aims to elevate the experience of luxury living at Claremont Hall, enhancing the appeal of this iconic development. This thoughtfully designed space highlights the building’s architectural elegance while inviting prospective buyers to envision their lives within its walls, illustrating that this residence is more than just a home—it’s a lifestyle.
