Knakal of Massey Knakal receives Founder's Medal at The Brooklyn Hospital Center's Annual Ball June 6th
Bob Knakal, Massey Knakal founder and chairman, was honored Wednesday evening, June 6th, with the Founder's Medal at The Brooklyn Hospital Center's Annual Brooklyn Founders Ball.
The Founder's Medal is issued each year to a member of the community who "commemorates the spirit and tradition of voluntarism, philanthropy, and service to the community as exhibited by the original founders of The Brooklyn Hospital Center." Knakal highlights these values and qualities through his numerous civic involvements and philanthropic endeavors which focus primarily on supporting disadvantaged children in New York City. These efforts are highlighted by his presidency of the 163 year-old Prescott Foundation for Children and Youth, a charity which provides grants to disadvantaged children for educational purposes. In addition, he is a member of the board of directors and serves as president of Ice Hockey in Harlem, an afterschool program that allows children to participate in hockey if they attend special classroom sessions to supplement their education.
The Brooklyn Hospital Center is Brooklyn's first hospital which is dedicated to providing outstanding health services, education, and research to keep the people of Brooklyn and greater New York healthy. This year's Founders Ball raised $1 million for the hospital in donations.
