Manhattan, NY SCG Retail has signed a 60,000 s/f retail lease for Whole Foods at 63 Madison Ave. (aka 28 East 28th St.) Whole Foods will be occupying10,000 s/f on the ground floor, plus an additional 50,000 s/f across the entire second floor of 63 Madison Ave. The space features 190 ft. of retail frontage in a prime Midtown South location, on the corner of Madison Ave. and East 28th St.
“Locating at 63 Madison offers Whole Foods the opportunity to serve the office population in the NoMad and Park Ave. South sub markets,” said Chase Welles, one of the SCG brokers who represented the tenant. “It also will address the underserved residential population to the East in Kip’s Bay.”
63 Madison Ave., owned by George Comfort & Sons, provides tenants with recently modernized building infrastructure, large floorplates, proximity to public transit, and outstanding neighborhood retail options.
According to Jacqueline Klinger, the other SCG Retail broker representing Whole Foods, “28th St. has subways on both Park Ave. and Broadway. 63 Madison is right in the middle, super convenient for everyone in the area.”
Whole Foods Market currently operates over 500 stores across 12 regions in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

George Comfort & Sons, along with its partners Jamestown Properties and Loeb Partners Real Estate, is undertaking a major renovation of the property, which includes the expansion of the first and second floors to create a retail glass box.
