New City, NY Kamber Management Co., a New York City-based owner and operator of commercial real estate, earned the 2017 Pride of Clarkstown Award for their New City Center Shopping Center in the shopping center category. The 132,000 s/f shopping center is anchored by a Shop Rite supermarket. The center is accessible to residents of the hamlet as well as those in surrounding communities.

The New City Center façade renovations, in the downtown historic district, used brick and other materials that evoke the prewar character of the town and Rockland County. Special reference to cornice and pilaster details brings scale and definition to the storefronts and building as a whole.  These improvements are in collaboration with the town beautification project along Main St. and contribute to making the hamlet a place for residents to be proud of, and a desirable destination that enhances the community.

“We are extremely grateful for this recognition from the Pride of Clarkstown Committee,” said Peter Levy, Principal at Kamber Management Company. “We have been a part of the New City community for over a quarter of a century and are excited to be a part of the revitalization and improvement of this wonderful area.”

“New City Center would like to thank the town for its leadership in creating a better retail environment by improving the downtown area for pedestrians and merchants alike,” Levy continued.  “We believe strongly that New City Center’s Capital Program supports the town’s efforts and improves, the quality of life here in New City.  In this regard, we appreciate the acknowledgement for our efforts and accept this award gratefully.”

The Pride of Clarkstown Committee was established in 2006 to recognize clean, attractive, and outstanding commercial properties.  Eighty eight properties have been nominated for this award in various categories since the program began 11 years ago, culminating in this year’s eight winners.  The 2017 Awards were presented at Clarkstown Town Hall, 10 Maple Avenue, New City, on Tuesday February 13th at 7 p.m.
