Kajima Building & Design Group completes workplace renovation for Marubeni America Corp. at 90 Park Ave.

Manhattan, NY Kajima Building & Design Group (KBDG) has completed a 1,500 s/f workplace renovation for Marubeni America Corp. at 90 Park Ave. in Midtown, renovating the interior workspace designed to support both collaboration and focused workflow for the Japanese general trading and investment firm.

The renovation reconfigured a portion of Marubeni America’s existing office to expand its conference facilities while introducing quiet rooms and open workspace, giving employees a greater variety of environments for meetings, individual work, and focused conversations.

The project reflects a broader evolution in workplace design as companies look beyond traditional offices and conference rooms to provide employees with spaces suited to different types of work. For Marubeni America, the renovation created focused work environments, while the expanded conference room provides additional space for group meetings and collaboration.

“After KBD completed our initial HQ renovations in 2023, we identified further improvements to support the blend of our open, private, meeting, huddle, and innovation areas, ensuring a welcoming and productive workplace experience for our employees and guests. KBD went above and beyond to meet our goals with quality, on time, and on budget. We appreciate working with the KBD team on another successful project,” said Matthew Dodge, director & department manager of real estate management, Marubeni America Corp.

KBD’s scope also included demolition, new drywall and painting, MEP modifications, glass relocation and construction associated with the expanded conference room and new workplace spaces. The renovated area includes a moss wall.

“Today’s workplaces must accommodate several different modes of working within the same environment,” said Craig Bagnoli, regional group leader, KBDG. “For the Marubeni America project, the goal was to create spaces that support collaboration while also giving employees places where they can step away for focused work or private conversations.”
