Jones Lang LaSalle has named John Wheeler, managing director, to oversee its Lower Manhattan office. He will also continue to provide brokerage and advisory services to some of the firm's most significant clients. He has more than 28 years of experience in all aspects of commercial real estate, including brokerage, asset management, acquisitions and property management. "Lower Manhattan is one of the most important and challenging office submarkets in the tri-state area, and our commitment to the area has never wavered. John is one of a very few individuals with the skill and expertise to oversee our work Downtown, and to continue to expand on our track record of success there." In addition to his brokerage responsibilities, Wheeler also directs the firm's activities on behalf of Gramercy Capital Corp., which has amassed a portfolio that encompasses 13.5 million s/f of office space and bank branches throughout the United States. Wheeler's brokerage clients include JPMorgan Chase & Co., Crédit Agricole CIB and Tudor Investment Corp. Wheeler has been with Jones Lang LaSalle for more than 16 years in total. His notable transactions in Downtown New York have included more than 1.1 million s/f in dispositions on behalf of Wells Fargo and a 450,000 s/f, 20-year master lease for the New York City Housing Authority for the entire building at 180 Water St. Wheeler has also represented MetLife, General Electric and Aegon Insurance and other large corporations in major real estate transactions in Lower Manhattan. Wheeler received a bachelor's degree from Union College. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
