Janis of PWC receives CIB Industry Leadership Award

Lenore Janis, president of Professional Women in Construction (PWC) has received an Industry Leadership Award at the Concrete Industry Board's annual president's ball. The CIB's Honors Program celebrates the careers of 2011's Distinguished Leaders of Industry by paying tribute to a select group who "have made outstanding contributions and given exceptional service to the construction industry." The black tie dinner and dancing reception was held May 20 at The Pierre Hotel in NYC. Janis, one of eight honorees and the fourth woman to receive the award in 24 years, accepted the honor "on behalf of the groundbreaking women who trailblazed a path, and their daughters and granddaughters who are entering an exciting industry that now welcomes their expertise and diligence." The other Industry Leadership honorees were: Husam Ahmad, P.E., HAKS Engineers and Land Surveying, P.C.; Richard Cavallaro, Skanska USA Civil; Leonard Ferrara, Ferrara Bros. Building Materials Corp.; Robert LiMandri, New York City Department of Buildings; Allan Paull, P.E., Tishman Construction Corp.; and Robert Silman, P.E.. Robert Silman Associates. Stephen Marchese, P.E., Future Tech Consultants, received the Past President's Award.
