IREM NYC’s Summer of Service volunteers work with Friends in Need Foundation, Inc.

Manhattan, NY A summer rainstorm didn’t deter IREM chapter’s Summer of Service volunteers. IREM worked with Friends in Need distributing food to the less fortunate in Tompkins Square Park in New York City.

Friends in Need Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization with a purpose of helping the less fortunate by providing food, clothing, and living necessities, as well as working with other organizations dedicated to ending or minimizing hunger and hardship.

In addition, they donate food and volunteer time to shelters and soup kitchens in need of financial and human resources. They also distribute warm clothing and accessories during the cold winter months and offer assistance to families through their Family Support Program.

Friends in Need’s feeding programs was initiated in New York City in 2002. Since then, they have established and maintained regular programs in 4 metropolitan areas including New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and Pensacola, Florida. The organization, run by volunteers, continues to grow with complete dedication to their mission of helping those in need. 

IREM NYC distributed food to over 200 people on Saturday morning, July 18^th. “Yes. we were soaked to the bone. And yes, It was 100% worth it!”
