Industry City expands culinary presence with five food and beverage leases

Brooklyn, NY Industry City, the 35-acre mixed-use complex comprising sixteen waterfront buildings in Sunset Park, expanded its tenant roster with five lease signings with food and beverage providers totaling 45,700 s/f. New deals include:

•  Up-and-coming chefs Brendan Kelley, formerly of Roberta’s, Libertine, Aska, and Dan Grossman, formerly of Roberta’s, Foul Witch, and Gage and Tollner, signed a lease for a 3,700 s/f restaurant, Confidant, on the ground floor of Building 5. A seasonal live-fire New American restaurant. Confidant will be Industry City’s first standalone full-service restaurant and is scheduled to open in 2024.

• Japan Village will grow by 10,000 s/f in Building 4. Currently home to the Sunrise Mart marketplace, a food hall serving up authentic Japanese cuisine, and The Loft, a center for Japanese art, beauty, lifestyle, and culture, Japan Village will expand in spring 2024 to include Japanese barbecue, karaoke rooms, and a Japanese bakery.

• The owners of Uluh East Village will open The Bao Chinese Restaurant, taking a 5,000 s/f space in Building 3.

• Brooklyn Kura, New York’s first sake brewery, will expand from its existing 3,500 s/f tasting room to a 20,000 s/f production facility and taproom in Building 6. With investment from Hakkaisan, one of Japan’s most respected sake brewers, the new space will more than double Brooklyn Kura’s current brewing capacity. The two-story space, designed by Kushner Studios and architect Shuji Suzumori, will introduce the Brooklyn Kura Sake Studies Center, has a new menu of small plates and shochu-based cocktails, and more.

• Beloved Brooklyn ice cream brand Ample Hills signed a lease for a 7,000 s/f commissary kitchen in Building 2, as well as a scoop shop in the Industry City Food Hall in Building 2, both of which are now in operation.

• Kotti Döner, currently residing in the Food Hall, building 2, where they are serving the first-ever Turkisch-inspired German street food, the Döner Kebab, will grow 150 s/f across from their existing location. The new space will house their new culinary concept, Moritz Pommes Frites Bar, serving German-loaded fries that are fully hand-cut, and hand-battered fried chicken with signature sauces; plus sausages and German dogs.

These new destinations will undoubtedly surprise and satisfy our community while also serving as inspiring backdrops for creativity and connection.”

An epicenter for dining and drinking in Brooklyn, Industry City is also home to favorites such as Frying Pan Brooklyn, Ends Meat, Colson Patisserie, Hometown Bar-B-Que, Burger Joint, Taza Mkt, Sahadi’s, Big Alice Barrel Room, Fort Hamilton Distillery, Standard Wormwood Distillery, and more.

At Industry City, leasing opportunities range from small offices for mid-sized businesses and solo entrepreneurs, large office spaces with diverse floor plans, tailored storefronts and turn-key retail spaces, all the way to industrial buildings for production studios and laboratories for biosciences. The unique 8,500 person campus currently houses over 550 businesses.
