In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? As the most senior woman structural leader at DeSimone Consulting Engineering, I am proud of our work at 1841 Broadway, a 27-story residential tower in Manhattan. DeSimone is the engineer of record and façade consultant for the project, we also performed special inspection services for the reinforcing steel installation, concrete placement, and façade installation.
Which professional associations or organizations would you recommend to women who are starting out in the AEC industry? There are so many programs that all women in the AEC industry should join. Personal associations or organizations events that I’ve been to and recommend include: CMAA: Construction Management Association of America; ASCE: American Society of Civil Engineers; WBC: Women Builders Council;
Which professional associations or organizations would you recommend to women who are starting out in the AEC industry? I would recommend that women starting out in the AEC industry join a local organization to make connections with strong role models, mentors & leaders in their field. I am a founding board member
What was a pivotal point in your career? Choosing to make a lateral move to another company for a “potential opportunity” rather than take the promotion the current company was offering. I knew the promotion my current company was offering was a better title and more money,
In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? Being an integral part of the design team for the new affordable senior citizen residence located in Wyandanch Village. The project provided a great experience collaborating with other design professionals to meet project requirements, and I gained a better understanding of how many parties are involved in the building process.
In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? The accomplishment that I am most proud of is becoming a licensed Professional Engineer. I studied for years to prepare for the exam and passed while eight months pregnant.

I am most proud of being part of the project team for the 28E28th St. repositioning commercial office building in NYC’s Flatiron district. It is a 15-story, 703,000 s/f building, and we were tasked with significant demolition, white boxing, enlarging multiple floors, HVAC and electrical system upgrades, a new floor-through lobby
In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? Our firm has grown significantly over the past year, with the addition of three professionals that have added substantial knowledge and value to our company. I’m very proud of the team we are building, and the standards being established.
In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? Building my current HR team has been the highlight of my year and what I am most proud of. We had a truly transformational year, and I am incredibly proud of my team’s passion, knowledge, and ability to drive results
In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? The project I am most proud of is an interior build-out we completed at 885 3rd Ave., also known as the Lipstick Building. Being a women-owned general contracting business and working in this iconic New York building felt very on brand!
What was a pivotal point in your career? In 2012, after Hurricane Sandy devastated NYC, I was assigned to the city’s rebuilding efforts at the mayor’s Housing Recovery Office. I had never worked in housing recovery, let alone been involved with disaster response at this level.
