Omni to renovate Liberty Gardens: $40 million project
Omni Housing Development LLC has been chosen by the Rome Housing Authority to be its private partner in the complete renovation of the Liberty Gardens housing complex. These renovations to one of the largest affordable housing complexes in the Mohawk Valley, will offer safe, modern, affordable apartments to low-income residents and has the potential to revitalize the entire community.
Omni's proposed restoration calls for the gutting and complete renovation of the 180-unit complex. This renovation will be the first major upgrade at the property since its construction in 1952, and will provide modernized and energy-efficient units, meeting all regulations for handicapped accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Groundbreaking on the $40 million renovation is anticipated by spring time with completion in three to five years.
Omni has a record of success in similar re-development projects throughout the state including: The $33 million revitalization of the Rockville Centre Apartments, Rockville Centre, one of Long Island's first low-income housing complexes; the $18 million renovation of Embury Apartments in Saratoga Springs and the $22 million revitalization of the Jared Holt Mews Townhouses in Albany's South End; as well as the $11.5 million rehabilitation of South Mall Towers in Albany and the $20 million revitalization of Kennedy Towers in Troy.
