3C Lakeshore choses Foster + Partners as architect for waterfront project

3C Lakeshore Inc., a joint venture between New York-based Continental Ventures Realty, Cityzen Development Group and Castlepoint Realty Partners of Toronto, has chosen architect Foster + Partners for their new waterfront project. The 13-acre development site is one of the largest contiguous tracts of land on the city's East Bayfront. Zoned for 2.5 million s/f of residential, retail, hotel, entertainment and cultural uses, it is also one of the single largest developments project in the downtown area. "We are thrilled to be adding such a prestigious, stunning and invigorating project to our development portfolio," said Amir Chaluts CEO of Continental Ventures Realty. This waterfront site will house over 2000 residential units and presents a unique development opportunity. We decided the timing is right to invest in Canada." "We are honored to have Foster + Partners as a part of our team," says Sam Crignano, president of Cityzen Development Group. "They are among the very elite of architects in the world today. This is a further signal of our efforts to lead by design," Castlepoint Realty's Alfredo Romano added, "Bringing Foster + Partners here is a huge win for the City of Toronto and the Waterfront. It's a game changer." A joint venture of award-winning architects Peter Clewes of Architects Alliance, Bruce Kuwabara of KPMB of Toronto, Eric Kuhne of CivicArts, and Landscape Architect Claude Cormier of Montreal complete the design team. Led by Foster + Partners, the design team and 3C have just returned from London where the team began the process of designing a vibrant neighborhood on Toronto's waterfront. Subsequent design sessions are scheduled for both Toronto and New York and newly minted plans will be unveiled later this year. "The Waterfront represents a special opportunity for Toronto's growth. We are elated to expand our development operation to Canada and contribute to the creation of this exciting new neighborhood," states Jane Gol, president of Continental Ventures Realty.
