Honig joins Thornton Tomasetti as general counsel

According to Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm, Robert Honig has joined the firm as its general counsel. Honig, who will be based in the firm's New York office, will oversee the day-to-day activities of Thornton Tomasetti's in-house legal team. He brings more than 20 years of legal experience, including 15 years of experience in architecture, engineering and construction law, to the position. Prior to joining Thornton Tomasetti, Honig was the global head of architects and engineers claims at the Beazley Insurance Co. in New York. He was responsible for the worldwide portfolio of claims against design professionals and served on the management committee for all specialty lines claims. Previously, Honig was a partner at Zetlin & De Chiara LLP, a New York boutique construction law firm. In his new role as general counsel, Honig will manage a range of legal issues such as contract negotiation, litigation support, risk management, transactional-related activities and ethics. Honig has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and a juris doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to the bar in New York.
