Hofstra University names DePaula recipient of Certilman Balin Honors Scholarship

Hofstra University School of Law has named GinaMarie DePaula the recipient of the 2012 Certilman Balin Honors Scholarship, a scholarship awarded to a second year law student. This special opportunity will enable DePaula to develop a close relationship with Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP, giving her the ability to be mentored by the firm's attorneys and also to work as an intern when her schedule permits. At Hofstra University School of Law, DePaula ranks 9th and is in the top 2.57% of her class. She is a member of the Dean's List and also a staff editor on Hofstra Law Review. She was honored with the Excellence Award in Contracts I, and is a member of Phil Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity and Hofstra Law Women. DePaula has served as a legal intern and extern at the Town of North Hempstead, Town Attorney's Office. She also works as a human resources assistant in the Department of Human Resources for Andrew's International Security in Manhattan. A 2009 graduate of SUNY Binghamton University, DePaula earned a bachelor of arts in History and Philosophy, Politics, and Law. While at Binghamton, she participated in the Johnson City Mentor Program and the Harpur College Council and studies abroad in Florence, Italy during the summer of 2009. The Certilman Balin Honors Scholarship, now in its seventh year, rewards a student who has an outstanding academic record of achievement, the financial need, and the potential to become an excellent attorney based upon leadership skills and a commitment to community, a hallmark of the Certilman Balin firm.
